Facebook And Twitter Fight Trump’s False Early Victory Claims

Following Donald Trump’s claims of victory while votes are still being counted, Facebook and Twitter received a large influx of false claims following this, that Trump had in fact won, before all votes were counted.

In response to this, both social media companies are taking emergency action and sending notifications informing people that no winner has been declared as of yet, among other measures such as putting labels on posts making these premature false claims.

A Facebook spokesperson said:

Once President Trump began making premature claims of victory, we started running notifications on Facebook and Instagram that votes are still being counted and a winner is not projected. We’re also automatically applying labels to both candidates’ posts with this information. (source)
