The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is suing Facebook over illegally monopolizing the social media industry. The FTC is making this legal move along with the attorneys general from 46 US states as well as the District of Columbia and Guam.
Over the last 9 years Facebook acquired Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus VR, Onavo, and Beluga so they could corner the market not only across social media, but messaging, analytics, and virtual reality.
The legal pressure brought on by the FTC may cause the tech giant to divest or re-structure it’s mergers & acquisitions made over the last decade.
