Who we are
We’re Humans For Ethical Technology (HFET). Our website address is: https://new.hfet.org.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
All of this data is stored securely on our server.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you choose to make a donation (see support us page), we will receive and log basic information such as the name/email you provide and the amount you’ve donated.
All payments are handled via Stripe, and we do not have access to card/bank details you provide, those are handled by Stripe according to their policies, we have no control over that.
We use only locally hosted, FOSS analytics services. We use both Plausible Analytics, and Statify.
Statify and Plausible log page hits and sources but does not conduct invasive tracking like Google Analytics does. To clarify, we do not collect personally identifiable information or any data of that nature, nor do we share analytics data with companies/organisations.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
If you choose to make a donation, basic information such as your name, email address and donation amount (all of which you provide), will be logged. The card details are handled by Stripe in accordance with their policies, and we do not log or have access to this.
We do not sell or share any user data.
